This paper analyses household food security related safety nets since 1999 in terms of their orientation, coverage and cost. As a background, the paper briefly reviews food security policies, strategies and programs implemented in the country since independence. A simple conceptual framework is used to review and analyse the issues based on literature on food security. The paper has six sections including this introduction and an annex of main source tables. Summary tables and graphs from these source tables are presented in the main paper. The main paper has seven graphs and five tables. The annex has two main tables. Table 1 lists safety nets projects as obtained from Government and NGOs, Table 1 in the annex is broken down by column with the project number is the main identifier. This table is in format that can be worked on. Table 2 is broken by rows (group of projects). Picture format has been used. Original files are required if further work is required. Excel files of these two main tables are attached to this report. |
