dc.description.abstract This is the Initial National Communication of Malawi prepared in fulfilment of her commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Malawi signed the UNFCCC in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 1992 during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The UNFCCC was subsequently ratified on 21st April 1994 making Malawi a Party to the Convention. The ultimate objective of the Convention is to achieve“… stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations, in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.” en_US
