dc.description This report is one of the documents developed as part of an assessment of TEVET programs and explores the relevance, appropriateness, impact and sustainability of the TEVET programs including flexibility, accessibility, and benefits to the vulnerable people. Drawing mostly on secondary data, the analysis of documents and reports, as well as on primary data from questionnaires, interviews and focus group discussions with key informants in Malawi. This report presents the way in which the TEVET programs in Malawi is responding to the needs and aspirations of social, economic and technical development within the context of the poor, the needy as well as gender issues and HIV/AIDS epidemic. It also identifies and analyses key initiatives and structures used to address quality assurance issues in TEVET programmes. en_US
dc.description.abstract TEVETA has been facilitating the implementing of a number of TEVET programs namely: Apprenticeship Training (AP), Skills Development Initiative (SDI), Small Enterprise Development (SED), On The Job Training (OJT) in the informal sector; Private Sector Training Programs (PSTP) which takes forms of tailor made courses, in house training, and company specific training and apprenticeship program. The purpose of this exercise was to: a)Assess the effectiveness and appropriateness of CBET as a training made for both formal and informal programs b) Assess the extent to which apprenticeship training program has impacted on industries c)Identify whether the entrepreneurship skills and training programs offered by TEVETA are relevant and adequate d) Evaluate the quality assurance process in the TEVET programs e) Assess the market of TEVETA qualifications inline with other exists qualifications en_US
